BULLETIN 359HEALTH INSURANCE EMERGENCY PLANNING AND PROCEDURES (EMERGENCY RULE) 30 DAY EXTENSION AND ALTERNATIVE NOTIFICATION FOR INSURERS WITH LESS THAN 500 COVERED LIVESMaine Insurance Rule Chapter 765, Health Insurance Emergency Planning and Procedures (Emergency Rule), was effective on June 16, 2009 and is posted on the Bureau of Insurance website at http://www.maine.gov/pfr/insurance/laws_rules.htm. Sections 6 and 7 of the Rule require health carriers to submit specified information to the Bureau by July 16, 2009. Some insurers have requested an extension of time to submit the information. This bulletin serves as notice that an automatic extension is being granted. The specified information must be provided by August 14, 2009. Insurers that have less than 500 covered lives in Maine may file a statement with the Bureau indicating the number of covered lives in Maine in lieu of filing specified information.
