Manufactured
Housing Installer
|
|
Description
"Installer"
means any person licensed by the Department of Professional and
Financial Regulation engaged for compensation in the installation
and service of the installation of manufactured housing.
"Installation"
means the process of affixing or assembling or setting up manufactured
housing on foundations or supports at a building site, and includes
the connection to existing electrical, oil burner, gas, water,
sewage and similar systems which are necessary for the use of
the house for dwelling or commercial purposes.

number, you may contact the Maine Revenue Services by

A letter of good standing from the Secretary of State
Corporation Division if the applicant is a corporation
and if an out of state or foreign corporation, documentation
of registration with the Maine Secretary of State Corporation
Division. You may contact the Secretary of State Corporation
Division by telephone at (207) 287-3676;
- If
the applicant is a foreign corporation, a duly-executed
power of attorney appointing the Executive Director as
its agent for service of process in this State;

Proof of products/completed operations liability insurance
for at least $300,000.00 and, where required, proof of
workers' compensation insurance. Liability policy must
include mandatory notice of cancellation to the Manufactured
Housing Board;
- If
the applicant is an individual, payment of a separate
$8.00 fee for a criminal records (SBI) check. Make check
payable to the Treasurer, State of Maine; and
- Credit

Description
Dealer means
a person licensed by the Department of Professional and Financial
Regulation engaged in the retail selling or offering for sale,
brokering or distribution of manufactured homes, primarily to
a person who, in good faith, purchases these homes for purposes
other than resale.

Description
Mechanic
means a person licensed by the Department of Professional and
Financial Regulation engaged in servicing or installing manufactured
housing, as defined in section 9002, subsection 7, paragraphs
A and C, for compensation and is not a regular employee of a manufacturer
or a dealer.

For initial licensure as a manufacturer, the applicant
shall submit their installation manual to be maintained
on file at the Office. Subsequent change in the installation
manual shall be submitted with the application for license
renewal;
- A
letter of good standing from the Secretary of State Corporation
Division if the applicant is a corporation. To obtain
a letter of good standing, you may contact the Secretary
of State Corporation Division by telephone at (207) 287-3676;
and if the applicant is an out of state
corporation, documentation if registration with the Maine

building system for evaluation in accordance with the
requirements of Subpart D of the Rules for the State Certification
of Manufactured Housing if the applicant is a manufacturer

for a Mobile Home Park License;
- Application

A copy of the final plans signed by the town planning
board or a statement from either the town manager or selectperson
that town planning board approval is not required;
- A
copy of the deed and the location and legal description
of the tract of land upon which it is proposed to operate
and maintain a mobile home park;
- A
detailed site plan(s) of water and sewer lines, disposal
systems, well and pump house location, mobile home pads
and driveways shall be submitted on a scale of 1" equals
20';
- A
plan locating existing or propose facilities in the park
for water supply, waste water disposal, electrical services
and necessary buildings;
- A
statement from a key municipal official (town manger or
select person) or from an attorney stating the
park meets all the local requirements not preempted by
Federal and State law;
- Documentation
that the Division of Health Engineering, Department of
Human Services, has reviewed the plans and they meet all
requirements of that Department relating to drinking water
and wastewater disposal. If municipal services are used,
a letter of documentation from the utility that will provide
the service;
- If
Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) approval
is needed, the document must include that approval. If
DEP approval is not needed, then an affidavit by the park
owner that have been submitted to DEP and a verbal order
was stated that no approval was needed;
- A
statement from a Maine licensed electrician stating that
the plan meet requirements of the current edition of the
National Electrical Code (NEC)(NFPA 70) as adopted by
the Electricians Examining Board;
- A
statement of the municipal fire chief that the plans meet
the requirements of local and state fire codes; and
- Credit
Card Application, if authorizing payment of license fee(s).

Our Purpose
The
Manufactured Housing Board was established to ensure that manufactured
housing is safe from hazardous defects, provide uniform performance
standards for construction and installation of manufactured housing,
and provide a safe and sanitary environment for occupants residing
in mobile home parks.
The
primary responsibilities of the board are to examine and license
qualified applicants, to promulgate rules defining the qualifications
and professional standards of manufacturers, dealers and installers
of manufactured housing, to investigate complaints against its
licensees, and to take appropriate disciplinary action against
noncompliance with its statute and rules.
