Description
Architect
means a person licensed by the Department of Professional and
Financial Regulation to use the title "architect" or to practice
architecture after having met the requirements for licensing.
Unless specifically exempted, a license is required to practice
architecture in the State of Maine [reference 32 MRSA Chapter
3-A §226 "Exceptions"].

Development Program (IDP) OR 3 yrs. practical experience
approved by the Board.
- PERSONAL
INTERVIEW
before the Board for the purpose of validating qualifications.
Applicant will be asked to bring work samples representative
of his or her experience.

for applicants applying for reinstatement within two years
of the license expiration date.

applications are mailed approximately 30 days prior to
the license expiration date. It is the licensee's responsibility
to keep the board informed of the current license address
and/or to see that the license is renewed absent the renewal

interior designer" after having met the requirements for certification.

as set by the National
Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ).

- Each applicant must provide to the Board proof of passage
of the examination administered by the National Council
for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ).
- PERSONAL
INTERVIEW - may be required to appear before the Board
for the purpose of validating qualifications and present
work samples representative of his or her experience.
REQUIREMENTS
FOR APPLICANTS LICENSED IN ANOTHER STATE
- All
applications and forms required of original certification
AND
- VERIFICATION
OF CERTIFICATION from another state in which applicant
is licensed or certified as an interior designer

Our Purpose
The Maine
State Board for Licensure of Architects, Landscape Architects
and Interior Designers was established to protect the public and
maintain high professional standards through examination and licensure
of persons who wish to practice architecture, landscape architecture,
and interior design in the State of Maine.
The primary
responsibilities of the Board are to identify qualified applicants
for licensure, to issue licenses and renewals to applicants who
have met licensure requirements and to promulgate rules as necessary
to establish standards and verify qualifications of applicants
for licensure.
